Toni Tierney, Children’s Fashion Designer to the Stars?

March 17, 2009 – When California fashion designer, Toni Tierney, was thumbing through the March 16 issue of Us Weekly Magazine, she was delighted to spot one of her creations on Tori Spelling’s baby girl, Stella.

Tierney’s company, Toni Tierney Children’s Clothing, was established in San Rafael, California in 1994. Her whimsical fashions are now available in more than 400 boutiques across the United States.

The dress sported by young Stella was one of Tierney’s sweet pink dresses with a striped ruffle on the bottom.

In November, a friend of Tierney’s pointed out that one of her designs was being worn by Jamie-Lynn Spear’s daughter, Maddie, in photos of the Spears family reunion which were appearing all over Internet gossip sites and in several magazines.

Tierney, a graduate of San Francisco’s Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising says, “It doesn’t matter that I’ve been doing this for almost eighteen years. Because a piece of my heart goes into each piece I design, it’s an incredible feeling to see my fashions being worn. When I see one of my designs on a celebrity baby in a major magazine, though, it really is a surreal feeling. The best part for me in both of these cases is that the babies were wearing my designs during positive moments with their mothers. It wouldn’t mean as much if the photos were accompanying negative gossip stories.”

Children’s Fashion Designer Spots Her Creation on Maddie Spears in People, OK! & In Touch Magazines

November 3, 2008 - It’s every clothing designer’s dream to see their clothes worn by a celebrity. That dream has come true for children’s fashion designer Toni Tierney of San Francisco. She recently spotted one of her popular infant dresses being worn on Jamie-Lynn Spears’ baby in photos of the Spears’ family reunion which are now popping up all over the Internet.

Tierney’s namesake company, Toni Tierney Children’s Clothing, has been in operation in San Rafael, CA since 1994 and her whimsical fashions can be found in more than 200 boutiques across the United States.

The dress worn by Maddie Spears was one of Tierney’s enchanting dresses with a sweet apron. The dress comes from a line of infant and toddler dresses which feature these darling aprons.

“When I heard one of my dresses was being worn by Britney’s niece in People Magazine, I was delighted!” exclaims Tierney, a graduate of San Francisco’s Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. She adds, “Though I’ve been doing this for fourteen years, so much of me goes into each piece I design, it’s still an amazing feeling anytime I see my fashions being worn. Seeing my dress on a celebrity baby is truly a surreal feeling. What’s even better is that it’s the first really positive story about the Spears family that we’ve seen in a long time. Maddie’s wearing my dress as she’s surrounded by love at a family reunion. It would mean much less to me had it been a negative gossip story.”

Tierney’s designs often feature bits of old lace, antique trim, buttons, hankies and other romantic pieces. These details complement the hand painting and other personal touches she incorporates into her fashions. Other popular designs from Tierney’s collections include adorable three-piece cotton knit outfits for infants and toddlers including leggings, t-shirts and knit caps.

Each piece Tierney makes is made from 100% cotton knit and is designed first and foremost with durability and comfort in mind, but they’re fashionable enough to be worn by children of celebrities!

California Fashion Designer Featured in Buying Guide for American-Made Children’s Products

May 8, 2009 – Children’s fashion designer and California native, Toni Tierney, has been supporting the American economy since she started her namesake company Toni Tierney Children’s Clothing in 1994.

Each of her whimsical designs is sewn by an American mother who’s earning an income while being at home with her children, something Tierney feels any mother who wishes to should be able to do. Tierney is also a large supporter of American cotton mills with every piece she designs being made from 100% cotton.

In a book released earlier this year by Bruce Wolk, Made Here, Baby!, the very American Toni Tierney was mentioned as one of the manufacturers US consumers can trust when shopping for goods for their children. Tierney will also be a featured American manufacturer on www.madeherebaby.com this week.

“I was so happy to learn I’d been mentioned in this wonderful guide, and even more pleased when I heard I would be a featured manufacturer on madeherebaby.com,” states Tierney. She adds, “I’m grateful that Bruce has written this book so parents have an easy way to source items for their children that were created on American soil, and I’m delighted to be part of it.”

Author of Made Here, Baby!, Bruce Wolk, is a strong advocate of woman-owned American manufacturing companies. For his book he heavily researched and interviewed more than 400 US manufacturers of children’s items including clothing and accessories, furniture, toys and games.

Wolk has stressed throughout his website and other marketing avenues for the book that none of the manufacturers in Made Here, Baby! paid to be mentioned in the book. Each of the companies featured was researched heavily in order to provide consumers with a real choice and companies that approached Wolk offering to pay for a mention were declined.
